Regatta Gear and Equipment List

Important Items: This is a suggested list of some of the most important items that each team should consider bringing when attending international events. Each team needs to be fully self-sufficient to manage its own rigging, tuning, repairs and potential equipment failures at all times.
Add or subtract from this list as you see fit – this is just a guideline

YOU CANNOT ALWAYS COUNT ON FINDING THINGS EASILY WHEN YOU TRAVEL

Rigging:

  • (2) Jib wires for your sails (get from rigger or sail-maker) (NOT OPTIONAL)
  • Spectra (or wax stitching line) to tie your jib to the wire & other uses
  • (2) Traveler bridles (check the I-420 spec webpage for latest news on these)
  • (2) chain plate/tension adjuster set pins w/spin-sheet guide (possibly at venue)
  • Electrical tape
  • Rigging tape
  • Extra spin halyard
  • Extra main sheet
  • Extra line – small gauge for a variety of uses
  • Extra sail battens
  • Variety of small shackles / clevis pins / ring-dings / etc.

Tools:

  • Loose Gauge (rig tuning gauge) – not an old one, they wear out and don’t read properly
  • 50 Meter, soft measuring tape (yes metric) & 12-15 meter small hard metric measuring tape
  • Vice-grips (small & large)
  • Pliers (needle nose, regular & adjustable)
  • Screwdrivers (assortment)
  • Small & Medium “Crescent” wrenches
  • Swedging tool and swedges (variety)
  • Pop-rivet gun & rivets (variety)
  • Wire cutters
  • Small hammer
  • Awl
  • Permanent markers (small tip & large tip)
  • Small, portable electric drill kit w/international charging adapters & drill bits
  • Small hacksaw w/blades (or just blades)
  • Small line burner (do not try to bring extra fuel)

Misc:

  • Duct Tape (no kidding)
  • 1 Kilo (2 lbs) of sheet lead (to bring your new hull to correct weight at measurement)
    Tell-tails
  • Spin repair tape
  • Sail repair tape
  • Small tube of 5200 (pack in zip-lock bag – take air out)
  • Gallon size zip-lock bags
